Hard Times Call for Sense of Humor

Monday, April 5th, 2010

In times such as these, when everything around you seems to be crumbling and the world seems scary, crazy and downright sad, it’s important to keep your sense of humor.  I myself have used my sense of humor in times of great stress and grief.  Like the time I lost my son Joshua and had to give birth anyway.  I remember laughing with the nurse and cracking  jokes.  Yes, cracking jokes, in this time of horror, because that is how I deal with grief sometimes.  It put a shade of lightness on the situation, because it was such a dark time.  It helped me deal with the heinous situation at hand.  It’s important to go through the grieving stage when you need to.  However, I feel that whenever you can in life, use a little humor.  So, for those of you who have lost your job or your home or are just feeling very very blue, try this.  Go into your room, sit down by yourself, close the door and get yourself to smile.  You may just end up laughing and then crying and then laughing again.  It’s a great stress reliever and can actually lower your blood pressure.  So, use a little humor.

It just may save your life.
